MattHagemanofDixon,Ill., fired a final round of 6-under-par 66 to claim the top spot on the leaderboard at the Medicus Preseason Junior in the Chicago Southland Sunday. His tournament total of 4-under-par 140 was good for a one-shot margin over Josh Clay of Canton, Ohio.

Beginning the day five shots behind the leader, Hageman recorded five birdies over his first seven holes to make the turn with the lead after opening with a5-under-par 31on the front side.

South Africa’s McLardy leads first round of Joburg Open

Harmon’s side: He denies offering Daly an apology

Golf instructor Butch Harmon spoke to John Daly last week, but said he did not offer an apology for parting ways with the troubled golfer after reports that Daly had been drinking in a hospitality tent at a March PGA Tour event.

I told him that he had no one to blame but himself, that ‘until you start realizing that you’re the cause of all this and get some help, you’re going to continue to have problems.’ I told him I would be glad to help. But I wasn’t going to retract anything that I said.
